About Play in the Wild:

“Play in the Wild!” is an organization born from the shared passions of Catherine Cadden and Melanie Whitham for wilderness adventure and living nonviolence. Catherine founded the TEMBA School, an alternative K-8 school in California centered around the principles of nonviolence, back in 1996. She has been leading backpack adventures for youth since 1990. On the other hand, Melanie founded the P.E.A.C.E. School, an elementary school based on holistic education principles, in 2002, and she has been leading canoe adventures for youth in Quebec, Canada since 1999.
